CURTIS FUNDAMENTAL SCHOOL
The new home of Curtis Fundamental Elementary School in Dunedin includes an historic 1920’s Spanish style building, classroom facilities from the 1950’s and new construction.

Pinellas County schools recently renovated the historic building and wanted to bring the entire campus into the 21st century with the latest in communication, life-safety, and education technology.

As a full-service low voltage contractor, BCI provided the audiovisual systems as well as structured cabling, network wiring, and a fire alarm system for the campus.
The 31 classrooms feature high-tech teaching stations. Each station includes a lectern with laptop connectivity and a document camera. The rooms have interactive whiteboards, Epson LCD projectors, AverMedia video systems and LightSPEED voice amplification. System control is provided by illuminated push-button wall plates.
A key feature of the audio-visual system is the Video Furnace IP video on demand system – a first for a Pinellas County school. The Video Furnace allows teachers to have unprecedented access to the latest educational content for their students.
In addition, the school has a Telecor zone paging system, allowing campus-wide announcements or individual room paging.

A NOTIFIER fire alarm system ensures that students, faculty, staff, and visitors are alerted in the event of an emergency.

The PANDUIT structured cabling system provides for voice and data connectivity throughout the campus. BCI also provided the cabling for the campus security system.
